Avoyelles Parish Solid Waste Information

LET ME HELP OUR COMMUNITIES.  LET’S GROW AVOYELLES PARISH.

As a life-long resident of Avoyelles Parish, I am committed to making the parish a place where families can flourish and kids won’t have to move away to find a job. With my experience as an entrepreneur, I know how to create jobs and opportunities. I’ll work hard in Baton Rouge to grow our job base and give every one of us a chance to succeed.

LET’S STOP WASTEFUL SPENDING

Politicians in Baton Rouge are risking our future to fund their wasteful ways. I will use my knowledge as a successful job creator to force government to live within its means, cut our taxes and give the citizens something back for their tax dollars.

I SUPPORT OUR SCHOOLS

I know firsthand the schools in Avoyelles Parish and across the state. I understand the importance of giving parents and students the chance to achieve their dreams. I support giving every student a strong start, high expectations, effective teachers and quality schools.

I WANT TO PRESERVE OUR WAY OF LIFE

My Christian values guide me every day. I am  pro-life and committed to protecting the rights of the unborn. As a sportsman, I will defend the Second Amendment and will fight to protect the rights and culture of our community.

I just received an update from the Cleco.

Approximately 900 residents in Avoyelles Parish are expected to be without power overnight. Due to the extensive flooding, crews are unable to safely restore service to all affected areas tonight.

The current expectation is that power restoration will begin tomorrow and continue throughout the day as conditions allow.

I know this is not the news anyone wants to hear, but the flooding has created significant challenges for utility crews. Please be patient and, most importantly, stay safe. Avoid flooded roadways and downed power lines.

I will continue to share updates as I receive them.

Any tips on what to do about gas hot water heater outside of the home under shed that was affected?

Are the roads opened up to get to Plaucheville yet? Or is the water at lease receding yet?

I have reached out to Our Fire bothers for cleaning supplies for those who need. More info to come

Avoyelles Parish is experiencing what could become a historic rainfall event, with totals approaching state record levels in some areas.

I have been in contact with the Governor’s Office and am monitoring the situation closely. I will continue to share updates as information becomes available.

The National Weather Service has indicated that evacuations are being organized for portions of Plaucheville, Moreauville, and Bordelonville, and the Red Cross is working to open a shelter for those affected.

I have also been in contact with Cleco regarding power outages. Due to the severe weather and high water, crews are unable to safely access some areas at this time. Cleco has assured me that crews are staged, ready, and waiting to respond as soon as conditions improve and floodwaters begin to recede.

In the meantime, please stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary. Many roadways are flooded or becoming impassable, and conditions can change rapidly. Your safety is the top priority.

Please continue to follow guidance from local emergency officials and the National Weather Service, and keep those affected in your prayers.

Stay off of the roads, unless you have an emergency. Driving on flooded roads/ streets pushes water into homes. If you have clogged culverts and have the ability, rake the leaves, branches, and debris away. When this event is over ,if your culverts are sunken or crushed, replace with a new culvert. Even small things can make a big difference in drainage. Prayers for our parish.

Prayers for all family & friends in Avoyelles and suffering from this storm.

Please remember that you also serve northern St. Landry Parish as well. And we all know that St. Landry needs all the help it can get. Thanks!

As long as it doesn’t involve AI data centers, we are all good.

Yep, elected officials getting a raise, while teachers are not. I hope teachers remember this.

Sir, with all due respect, can you provide an update on the Wiggins Creek Bridge crossing on Hwy 454? I have family that lives down there and they go to Marksville frequently. Instead of it being 12-15 miles to Marksville, it's 30 miles one way. That bridge has been out for what seems like an eternity. I feel like the Amish could've had this done in a couple weeks.

It would be nice if highway 107 from the Moncla bridge were to be redone. It has not been redone in over 30 years

What’s the process for Parish road grant approval?

We’ve had many sacrifice for our freedom from Avoyelles. I’d like to recognize Michael Juneau from Belledeau.

So sad that so many people think it’s just another holiday

Let's never forget their sacrifice 🙏

The future of Avoyelles and Louisiana is on the ballot tomorrow. We have an opportunity to move forward, grow, and build a stronger future for the next generation. Don’t listen to the negativity. Believe in what our parish can become. It’s our time. Go vote tomorrow.

As a retired teacher from 33-years of service in Avoyelles Parish and current president of the Avoyelles Retired Teachers Association and after reading and studying what the research of the Louisiana Retired Teachers Association and PAR, I will vote YES for Amendment #3 because it will help the retirement fund for all teachers--current and retired--stay healthy and financially stable.

As a veteran teacher I am still voting no for the amendment for my “raise!” Give me a raise from other areas and because I deserve it without making an amendment for it! Cut areas of high paying salaries to fund teachers!

Don’t worry I’m going vote No! Thanks for the reminder!
