LET ME HELP OUR COMMUNITIES.  LET’S GROW AVOYELLES PARISH.

As a life-long resident of Avoyelles Parish, I am committed to making the parish a place where families can flourish and kids won’t have to move away to find a job. With my experience as an entrepreneur, I know how to create jobs and opportunities. I’ll work hard in Baton Rouge to grow our job base and give every one of us a chance to succeed.

LET’S STOP WASTEFUL SPENDING

Politicians in Baton Rouge are risking our future to fund their wasteful ways. I will use my knowledge as a successful job creator to force government to live within its means, cut our taxes and give the citizens something back for their tax dollars.

I SUPPORT OUR SCHOOLS

I know firsthand the schools in Avoyelles Parish and across the state. I understand the importance of giving parents and students the chance to achieve their dreams. I support giving every student a strong start, high expectations, effective teachers and quality schools.

I WANT TO PRESERVE OUR WAY OF LIFE

My Christian values guide me every day. I am  pro-life and committed to protecting the rights of the unborn. As a sportsman, I will defend the Second Amendment and will fight to protect the rights and culture of our community.

What a week.

My first week of session was a busy and fulfilling one. We had the opportunity to hear Governor Landry’s address to the Legislature, where he laid out his priorities for the session and highlighted some of the major successes of his administration so far — including the announcement of significant new economic development projects across Louisiana.

I presented my inventory tax bills in Ways and Means, and I’m proud to say they passed committee.

As Chairman of Commerce, we had a bit of a slow start, but that’s about to change — we have 45 important pieces of legislation to hear in the coming weeks that will impact businesses and consumers across the state.

Somehow, I managed to sneak away just in time to catch Annalise’s final senior softball game. Bittersweet to see this chapter close, but excited for what’s ahead for her.

Then it was back to Baton Rouge before sunrise for the Governor’s Prayer Breakfast. I was blessed to attend with some of my colleagues and to spend the morning with two amazing public servants and friends: our Attorney General Liz Murrill and my U.S. Representative Julia Letlow.

Now, I’m thankful for a little time with my family to observe Good Friday and celebrate Easter together. Grateful for grace, for renewal, and for the path ahead. God is good.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” — Jeremiah 29:11

It was a pleasure to provide a legislative update to the Marksville Chamber. Always great to engage with community leaders and discuss the issues that matter most to our parish.

You are doing a Great job Daryl! Thanks for representing our state!!

Thank you and Sen Cloud for all you do for our parish and state

Bittersweet day for Avoyelles and the 7 other parishes that will be served by the new Faith House facility.
I had the honor of attending the ribbon cutting for this incredible new resource that will support women and children escaping domestic abuse.

It’s truly a blessing that we now have a place for those in need—but it’s also heartbreaking that such a need exists.

Thank you to everyone who made this possible, especially Senator Cloud for her strong support.

And thanks to all the wonderful volunteers who donated their time, money and resources by adopting rooms and refurbishing them! 💖

So grateful that you and other legislators helped make this happen!

Maybe we can get Hunters for the Hungry Louisiana to start donating protein to them, if needed!

It’s not October… but it sure looked like a pumpkin patch along Hwy 115 in Moncla yesterday! Big thanks to the Raymond Laborde Correctional Center crew for helping clean up our roadsides. Those orange bags full of trash may not be festive, but they sure are appreciated!

Let’s all do our part to keep Avoyelles beautiful!

Thanks to RLCC offenders. It's sad that anyone has to pick up trash that others carelessly throw out. 🙁

Very much appreciated from a Moncla resident.

Thank goodness. Love it

Constitutional Amendment #3: Holding Violent Juvenile Offenders Accountable

All 50 states allow or require certain juveniles to be prosecuted as adults for serious crimes. Louisiana is unique in that our state Constitution specifically lists the crimes eligible for adult prosecution. However, as criminal laws evolve, our Constitution has not kept pace.

What does Amendment #3 do?
If passed by voters, this amendment will allow the Legislature—by a two-thirds vote—to determine which crimes can be transferred to adult court. This flexibility ensures that laws reflect the realities of today’s crime landscape.

For example, armed robbery is currently eligible for transfer, but carjacking and home invasion are not—even as these crimes become more prevalent. The amendment also updates outdated terminology, aligning with current laws (e.g., replacing “aggravated rape” with “first-degree rape”).

Why is this important?
1️⃣ Public Safety – Treating juveniles as adults for violent felonies protects communities from dangerous offenders.
2️⃣ Crime Reduction – Crime harms our economy, deters business investment, and reduces tourism. Holding violent offenders accountable helps keep Louisiana safe.

What crimes are included?
This amendment applies only to 15- and 16-year-olds—not younger juveniles—and only for serious felonies, including:
✔️ Attempted Armed Robbery
✔️ Carjacking
✔️ Home Invasion
✔️ Human Trafficking
✔️ Aggravated Second-Degree Battery
✔️ Distribution of Fentanyl

Recent reports from the FBI, Department of Justice, and Council on Criminal Justice show juvenile violent crime is rising nationwide, particularly crimes involving firearms. Louisiana must ensure our justice system can respond appropriately.

This isn’t about prosecuting petty crimes or young children—it’s about ensuring that those who commit violent felonies face the appropriate level of justice.

I appreciate Representative Debbie Villio for her hard work in bringing this important issue to the voters.

Vote YES on Constitutional Amendment #3.

I really appreciate how you translate the information into concepts the average citizen can understand.

Does anyone think a 15 year old doesn’t know right from wrong 😟😟😟

Thank you!

Amendment #2: A Smarter Approach to Louisiana’s Tax & Budget System

Louisiana voters will have the opportunity to modernize and streamline the state’s tax and finance system by voting YES on Amendment #2!

This amendment strengthens taxpayer protections, lowers income tax rates, limits government growth, and pays down state debt—all while maintaining a balanced budget and ensuring funding for critical needs.

✅ Key Benefits of Amendment #2:
✅ Why This Matters:
✔️ Provides a permanent Teacher and support staff raise
✔️ Lowers the state income tax rate from 4.75% to 3.75%
✔️ Doubles the standard deduction for seniors
✔️ Limits government spending growth to ensure responsible budgeting
✔️ Protects the Rainy Day Fund while keeping Louisiana financially stable
✔️ Requires a two-thirds legislative vote to create or increase tax exemptions, deductions, or credits.
✔️ Prohibits property taxes on prescription drugs.
✔️ Pays off $2 billion in state retirement debt to secure teacher and school worker pensions.
✔️ Allows local governments to eliminate business inventory taxes while receiving revenue.

This amendment puts Louisiana on a stronger financial path by ensuring responsible budgeting, reducing debt, and cutting taxes where they matter most.

Is the current state income tax not a flat 3% for all? Isn't a vote for the 3.75% top rate, a vote for an income tax increase?

What about church property?

Why are teachers against amendment 2?
