LET ME HELP OUR COMMUNITIES. LET’S GROW AVOYELLES PARISH.
As a life-long resident of Avoyelles Parish, I am committed to making the parish a place where families can flourish and kids won’t have to move away to find a job. With my experience as an entrepreneur, I know how to create jobs and opportunities. I’ll work hard in Baton Rouge to grow our job base and give every one of us a chance to succeed.
LET’S STOP WASTEFUL SPENDING
Politicians in Baton Rouge are risking our future to fund their wasteful ways. I will use my knowledge as a successful job creator to force government to live within its means, cut our taxes and give the citizens something back for their tax dollars.
I SUPPORT OUR SCHOOLS
I know firsthand the schools in Avoyelles Parish and across the state. I understand the importance of giving parents and students the chance to achieve their dreams. I support giving every student a strong start, high expectations, effective teachers and quality schools.
I WANT TO PRESERVE OUR WAY OF LIFE
My Christian values guide me every day. I am pro-life and committed to protecting the rights of the unborn. As a sportsman, I will defend the Second Amendment and will fight to protect the rights and culture of our community.
What was the name of the website they mentioned at the meeting today that people need to go to sign up for assistance needed…the site that channels people to the different volunteers/organizations able to help people?
The State of Louisiana has updated the damage.la.gov portal and it is now accepting business damage reports in addition to residential damage reports.
If your business suffered damage from the recent flooding, please take a few minutes to submit your information through the portal. This information is critical in helping the State determine whether additional assistance, including potential support from the Small Business Administration (SBA), may be needed.
Please share this post with any business owners who may have been affected.

Samaritan’s Purse is in the parish since yesterday and are ready to help with cleanup. They are set up in the parking lot at the Baptist Church in Hessmer across from Shawn’s. Really nice people.
Y’all I’m NOLA born, so no stranger to disasters. I’m also a cat five hurricane head on survivor. Total devastation. But we rebuilt our lives, our homes and our communities. In the process, we became stronger. Strangers became friends and friends became family. It’s a long haul, but you’ll get there. Never doubt that, nor yourselves. Enjoying life along the way makes it easier, and yes you can. You must. Look at nature, she’ll give you hope. Focus on small things that make you smile. Take time to rest, you just can’t rebuild in a day. I look back now amazed at what I did, what we did. Rebuilt it from the ground up. You WILL as well and you’ll be stronger for the experience, I promise. I’m living proof. You’ll remain in my prayers. You’re in everyone’s prayers. God’s got this. And He’s got you. 🙏🏼
Take the time to listen. Some help, if available, is better than nothing.
I have received several complaints that the damage.la.gov website was not working properly. I have been working with the state, and I’m happy to report that the issue has now been resolved.
If you previously attempted to submit an application and were unable to complete it successfully, please go back and resubmit your application.
Thank you for your patience as we worked through this issue. Please continue sharing this information so we can ensure everyone affected by the flooding has the opportunity to report their damages. ... See MoreSee Less

Is there a place to send information about losses other than homes?
Daryl Deshotel State Representative I text you earlier, I know you are crazy busy, I need recommendations on what supplies will be most beneficial for everyone in the area, if anyone on here has any input please let me know, I am trying to set up a couple donation centers in Houma/ Raceland/ thibodaux with Chad Ducote and a couple other businesses and churches and send a truck that way ASAP.
Bryan Fontenot I will call you this afternoon
Is there a certain date that reports should be submitted by? Wondering what the timeline is for people who are still busy dealing with damage. Thank you!
What a day! Today, we distributed more than 150 dehumidifiers and fans to families affected by the flooding in Avoyelles Parish.
A huge thank you to all of the Building a Better Avoyelles volunteers who gave their time and worked tirelessly today. It was a long and exhausting day, but together we did God’s work and helped many families begin the recovery process.
A special thank you to Digger Earls for helping bring these much-needed resources to Avoyelles and to Love Acadiana for their partnership and support.
This recovery effort is far from over, but today proved once again that when our community comes together, we can accomplish amazing things. Thank you all, and God bless every volunteer who stepped up to serve others.
So yes, things are happening! Might seem like nothing in the big scheme of things, but for many this is welcomed assistance! In such a huge disaster bigger relief takes time. All of the negative comments only discourage those suffering even more! Be positive, lift people up, and believe in the process!🙏❤️🇺🇸
Dehumidifiers are also needed for the locals in Mansura who were affected by the flood. Can you assist with this area also?
I just received a call and have been offered approximately 100 dehumidifiers for our flood victims.
If you need to borrow a dehumidifier, please send me a direct message with your:
• Name • Address • Phone Number
I am starting to compile a list now. Once the dehumidifiers arrive in Avoyelles, someone from our team will contact you with instructions on how to secure one.

Yesterday , Senator Heather Cloud and I spent the day traveling across Avoyelles Parish, helping coordinate recovery efforts from this historic flood. Later, we were joined by Governor Jeff Landry, Congresswoman Julia Letlow, Speaker Phillip DeVillier, Senator Womack, and the Governor’s Chief of Staff, Julie Emerson, to tour the devastation firsthand.
Together, we witnessed residents still being evacuated, families desperately trying to secure their livestock, and homes completely overwhelmed by floodwaters. It was an incredibly sad and humbling experience.
My heart breaks for everyone affected. I have tremendous empathy for my fellow Avoyelles residents, and I want you to know that I will do whatever it takes to help our communities recover and get back on our feet.
Following our tour, Governor Landry declared a State of Emergency for Avoyelles Parish. Congresswoman Letlow has also been in contact with the White House and President Trump. The President is aware of the severity of the situation here in Avoyelles and has committed to helping our community.
I will continue fighting every day to ensure that the resources and assistance our parish needs are delivered and that the promises made to our people are fulfilled.
Before I close, I want to say thank you to every volunteer, first responder, church group, organization, and local elected official who has worked tirelessly over the last several days. The long hours, sleepless nights, and selfless acts of kindness have shown the true spirit of Avoyelles Parish. I am proud to stand alongside each of you as we help our neighbors recover and rebuild.
Please continue to stay safe, check on your neighbors, and pray for everyone impacted by this disaster. Together, we will get through this.

Approximately 900 residents in Avoyelles Parish are expected to be without power overnight. Due to the extensive flooding, crews are unable to safely restore service to all affected areas tonight.
The current expectation is that power restoration will begin tomorrow and continue throughout the day as conditions allow.
I know this is not the news anyone wants to hear, but the flooding has created significant challenges for utility crews. Please be patient and, most importantly, stay safe. Avoid flooded roadways and downed power lines.
I will continue to share updates as I receive them. ... See MoreSee Less
