LET ME HELP OUR COMMUNITIES.  LET’S GROW AVOYELLES PARISH.

As a life-long resident of Avoyelles Parish, I am committed to making the parish a place where families can flourish and kids won’t have to move away to find a job. With my experience as an entrepreneur, I know how to create jobs and opportunities. I’ll work hard in Baton Rouge to grow our job base and give every one of us a chance to succeed.

LET’S STOP WASTEFUL SPENDING

Politicians in Baton Rouge are risking our future to fund their wasteful ways. I will use my knowledge as a successful job creator to force government to live within its means, cut our taxes and give the citizens something back for their tax dollars.

I SUPPORT OUR SCHOOLS

I know firsthand the schools in Avoyelles Parish and across the state. I understand the importance of giving parents and students the chance to achieve their dreams. I support giving every student a strong start, high expectations, effective teachers and quality schools.

I WANT TO PRESERVE OUR WAY OF LIFE

My Christian values guide me every day. I am  pro-life and committed to protecting the rights of the unborn. As a sportsman, I will defend the Second Amendment and will fight to protect the rights and culture of our community.

Update on Hwy 115 Roadwork 🚧 – 55% Complete

The contractor has finished soil cement operations, and weather permitting, the first of three layers of hot mix asphalt will begin early next week. It will take about four days to lay the first layer over the prepared base.

The project is on track to be fully completed by the second week of July.

To help ease traffic during this phase, a good detour option is LA 114 to LA 1188.

Thank you to DOTD and my legislative colleagues for their support in making this possible. We’re continuing to invest in our local infrastructure and #BuildingABetterAvoyelles.

Thanks for the update.

Thank you for all your hard work in making this happen. It is so nice to see major improvements in our community like this. Everyone just needs to be patient during this phase cause it will be worth it. Yesterday as I sat patiently waiting on the pilot truck I watch vehicles driving in the wrong lane going around traffic and having zero respect for others lives including the workers standing in the road. I witnessed what almost was a head on collision right on the side of my SUV. I noticed there was a state trooper sitting the near the old high school. Maybe a good idea for him to be in the mother goose parking lot.

I appreciate what you are doing. Great job! But how do I get that “cement stuff” off of my white car? I tried getting it off but I am having trouble. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

📣 Great news for Louisiana families and student-athletes!

Earlier this session, I authored House Concurrent Resolution 31, along with Senator Heather Cloud, urging the LHSAA to refrain from scheduling games during Easter weekend—a sacred time for many across our state.

I’m proud to share that the LHSAA has officially agreed to observe this resolution, committing to protect Good Friday, Holy Saturday, and Easter Sunday from athletic scheduling conflicts moving forward. 🙌

This is exactly why we run resolutions like HCR 31. It may not create a law, but it sends a clear message that faith, family, and tradition still matter in Louisiana. These resolutions give voice to our values and help align policy with the needs of the people we serve.

🙏 A huge thank you to the LHSAA and Executive Director Eddie Bonine for recognizing the importance of this request and working with the Legislature in good faith to respect our communities.

Thanks please to see faith is in minds as WE make these laws. Again THANKS

While I applaud this and support this, what about travel softball, baseball, AAU basketball etc. that are not under the jurisdiction of the LHSAA? There are far more of these events held on Easter weekend or is this targeting the LHSAA?

Yes!!

✅ Progress in Avoyelles Parish!
I’m proud to announce that JB Luke Road has been freshly paved thanks to funding I was able to secure from the State.

Special thanks to Sam Pearce for his hard work on the ground for District 8—these kinds of improvements wouldn’t happen without strong local leadership and teamwork.

Another step forward in #BuildingABetterAvoyelles

A state representative’s main job is to represent their district and help create and pass laws that impact the entire state. It’s not their responsibility to personally fix every road—but when they go above and beyond to help secure funding for local infrastructure, that’s something we should appreciate. Our rep went the extra mile to bring money home to Avoyelles, and it’s up to local government to use that funding for improvements. Not every road can be done at once, but it’s a step in the right direction. Let’s be thankful we have someone working hard to bring resources back to our parish.

Our fine Avoyelles parish roads. Sure would be nice to get some TLC on Crackville Rd. The asphalt road has turned to mud from lack of maintenance. The ditches are silted in and the drainage is now the center of the road. The pot holes are so big that people are busting their oil pans off of their vehicles. Maybe a few asphalt patches or a motor grader for a day on this road wouldn’t hurt.

Mr Daryl Deshotel State Representative I know there’s a lot of bad roads but I live on Louie Harmson rd in Centerpoint and it needs total reconstruction in the worst way! Please help if possible

Progress in Motion on Hwy 115 🚧
This is what real progress looks like in Avoyelles Parish! Thanks to the hard work of DOTD crews and the support of my legislative colleagues, construction is now underway to improve Highway 115.

These upgrades will bring safer travel, smoother roads, and long-overdue investment to our local infrastructure. Thank you to everyone helping make this possible — and know that more is on the way.

Thank you, Travis. I appreciate your support and the hard work you’re doing on the ground for District 2.

This year I’ve secured additional funding for road projects across Avoyelles and St. Landry Parishes. Once the Governor signs the budget, I’ll send over the full list so we can start planning next steps.

Thanks again for being a strong partner for your district. Let’s keep moving forward together.

How about spread these funds around and not just in your home town.

Bayou Des Glaises from Borodino crossing to Voorhies crossing is a hot mess... the taxes went up but the road never got paved in some places🤷🏻‍♀️

Can you put Riche Rd on that list next. The amount of traffic it sees every day and the condition it’s in just doesn’t keep up with its traffic. Go down it now, you’ll see craters that will end a tires life if you hit it. And it won’t be filled in for another 6 months to a year.

This session, I had the privilege of authoring two House Concurrent Resolutions that reflect our shared Louisiana values - faith, family, and safety.

✅ HCR31: Requests the Louisiana High School Athletic Association to refrain from hosting games during Easter weekend.
✅ HCR54: Urges and requests the Louisiana Department of Health to review and revise its regulations regarding minimum chlorine concentration levels in public water systems.

Each bill we pass is a reminder of why we’re here - to serve, safeguard, and strengthen Louisiana families.

A sincere thank you to Senators Stewart Cathey and Rick Edmonds for carrying these important measures on the Senate floor.

Are you looking to raise or lower minimum chlorine residual levels?

IMO LHSAA has plenty of issues but that isn’t one the state should interfere with. Most programs used that as the only time to make revenue
