LET ME HELP OUR COMMUNITIES. LET’S GROW AVOYELLES PARISH.
As a life-long resident of Avoyelles Parish, I am committed to making the parish a place where families can flourish and kids won’t have to move away to find a job. With my experience as an entrepreneur, I know how to create jobs and opportunities. I’ll work hard in Baton Rouge to grow our job base and give every one of us a chance to succeed.
LET’S STOP WASTEFUL SPENDING
Politicians in Baton Rouge are risking our future to fund their wasteful ways. I will use my knowledge as a successful job creator to force government to live within its means, cut our taxes and give the citizens something back for their tax dollars.
I SUPPORT OUR SCHOOLS
I know firsthand the schools in Avoyelles Parish and across the state. I understand the importance of giving parents and students the chance to achieve their dreams. I support giving every student a strong start, high expectations, effective teachers and quality schools.
I WANT TO PRESERVE OUR WAY OF LIFE
My Christian values guide me every day. I am pro-life and committed to protecting the rights of the unborn. As a sportsman, I will defend the Second Amendment and will fight to protect the rights and culture of our community.
It was an honor to be accompanied by LED Secretary Susan Bourgeois and LED Chief Economic Competitiveness Officer Ileana Ledet as I presented HB433 to the House Committee on Appropriations on Tuesday. With their assistance, my bill successfully passed, bringing us one step closer to enhancing economic growth for Louisiana.
The establishment of the Site Investment and Infrastructure Improvement Fund is a positive step forward, ensuring that both new and existing sites are ready for companies looking to establish their next facility. This initiative will enhance our competitiveness with other states and make Louisiana a more attractive option for investors.
Sometimes, in the middle of debating bills, amendments, and the countless details that come with this job, I look out my office window and get reminded of something much bigger.
The beauty of the river, the stillness of the moment, and the majesty of God’s creation remind me what truly matters. We often get caught up in the noise—but His glory is constant and calming.
Grateful for the view, the work, and the reminder to keep perspective. ... See MoreSee Less

What a busy day we had in Baton Rouge yesterday as we focused on bills that truly prioritize the needs of the citizens of Louisiana! I had the pleasure of speaking at a fantastic LEAD event, highlighting all the great work we're doing to foster a business-friendly environment in our state.
We moved forward with presentations on three bills in the House (HB365, 366, & 119) and I’m thrilled to report that all my bills passed with flying colors! This brings us one step closer to achieving our vision of officially opening Louisiana for business.
I'm also eager to continue working on my bill presented in the Commerce Committee (HB305), which aims to bring all stakeholders together. We’re committed to discussing how we can ensure broadband companies' compliance, to make sure that your hard-earned dollars are used effectively. This way, both the broadband companies and the wonderful people of our great state can all benefit.
This morning, a train derailed near Moreauville, northwest of Simmesport. Approximately 20 cars left the track, including several carrying hazardous materials. One of the locomotives is on its side and leaking diesel, and a propylene car has been confirmed to be leaking.
The derailment was caused by the train striking a fallen tree. Louisiana State Police Emergency Services, Troop E, and local first responders are on the scene, along with hazmat teams and air monitoring units. CPKC and contractors are also mobilizing for cleanup and containment.
There is currently a 1/4-mile isolation zone around the site, and traffic is being detoured for safety.
We are closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates as more information becomes available. Thank you to all the emergency personnel working to keep our community safe. ... See MoreSee Less
Although Amendment 2 was defeated by voters, I’m working to bring back the good parts—like phasing out the inventory tax, which hurts Louisiana businesses and discourages growth. We can fix this without jeopardizing local government funding. Let’s do it the right way.

I feel the same way about property tax. You should not have to pay a higher property tax because you have a nice home and property. You worked for it!
You need to separate the items to be voted on and give a more detailed explanation of what voting yes and no means for the public. Most voters do not know where or how to look up the old and new versions of what is being proposed in order to make a good decision. Please try educating the public instead of trying to deceive them with smoke and mirrors tactics. That’s why most of the voters said NO—they didn’t fully understand, so it was easier to say no. Of course this doesn’t guarantee anything is going to pass the vote, it just shows that you are being above board and honest with what is being proposed so folks can make informed decisions. All this is just my personal opinion—I worked with this kind of stuff in state government for 32 years, so I am NOT easily deceived. I know where to dig to get the truth.
My first week of session was a busy and fulfilling one. We had the opportunity to hear Governor Landry’s address to the Legislature, where he laid out his priorities for the session and highlighted some of the major successes of his administration so far — including the announcement of significant new economic development projects across Louisiana.
I presented my inventory tax bills in Ways and Means, and I’m proud to say they passed committee.
As Chairman of Commerce, we had a bit of a slow start, but that’s about to change — we have 45 important pieces of legislation to hear in the coming weeks that will impact businesses and consumers across the state.
Somehow, I managed to sneak away just in time to catch Annalise’s final senior softball game. Bittersweet to see this chapter close, but excited for what’s ahead for her.
Then it was back to Baton Rouge before sunrise for the Governor’s Prayer Breakfast. I was blessed to attend with some of my colleagues and to spend the morning with two amazing public servants and friends: our Attorney General Liz Murrill and my U.S. Representative Julia Letlow.
Now, I’m thankful for a little time with my family to observe Good Friday and celebrate Easter together. Grateful for grace, for renewal, and for the path ahead. God is good.
