LET ME HELP OUR COMMUNITIES. LET’S GROW AVOYELLES PARISH.
As a life-long resident of Avoyelles Parish, I am committed to making the parish a place where families can flourish and kids won’t have to move away to find a job. With my experience as an entrepreneur, I know how to create jobs and opportunities. I’ll work hard in Baton Rouge to grow our job base and give every one of us a chance to succeed.
LET’S STOP WASTEFUL SPENDING
Politicians in Baton Rouge are risking our future to fund their wasteful ways. I will use my knowledge as a successful job creator to force government to live within its means, cut our taxes and give the citizens something back for their tax dollars.
I SUPPORT OUR SCHOOLS
I know firsthand the schools in Avoyelles Parish and across the state. I understand the importance of giving parents and students the chance to achieve their dreams. I support giving every student a strong start, high expectations, effective teachers and quality schools.
I WANT TO PRESERVE OUR WAY OF LIFE
My Christian values guide me every day. I am pro-life and committed to protecting the rights of the unborn. As a sportsman, I will defend the Second Amendment and will fight to protect the rights and culture of our community.
Last night, the committee adopted the Home Rule Charter proposal, marking a major step forward for our parish. Now, the decision will be in the hands of the people when it goes to a vote in 2026.
It’s been a long road, but after years of discussion and hard work, Avoyelles residents will finally have the opportunity to choose the form of government that works best for our parish.
This is about accountability, and making sure our government structure reflects the needs of the people it serves. I appreciate everyone who has been part of this process, and I look forward to the conversation ahead.
Daryl, on another subject. I don't know if you can do anything about commercial insurance. I wanted to do some Hotshoting until I starting looking into the amount that the federal government requires you to carry. But what realy got my gratis that in Louisiana Progressive insurance is the only one you can get.I even tried to get some out of state but they all told me that if you live in Louisiana that they can not insure me. The insurance that is required would cost me $30,000 a year. If I could get insurance out of state ,I could get it for half or less than that. I think that this is very unfair for the truckers in this state. Thanks for reading this.
Daryl, wanted to let you know that I fully support the home rule charter. I think the parish will be better to meet our future needs.
Olivia and I had an incredible time in New Orleans, welcoming visitors to our great state! From attending numerous events and a lively parade to a beautiful church service at the St. Louis Cathedral with Gail Benson, it was a memorable experience. The city was well prepared, full of energy, and it’s clear—New Orleans is back!
A big thank you to the team from the Raymond Laborde Correctional Center for their hard work and dedication in keeping our community clean! They recently picked up over 300 bags of garbage along Highway 115 in the Bay Hills area.
Their efforts make a big difference in maintaining the beauty of our parish, and we appreciate their commitment to helping our community shine. Let’s all do our part to keep Avoyelles Parish clean and beautiful!
As a State Representative and licensed pilot, I feel compelled to speak out about the recent avoidable aviation tragedy in Washington, D.C.
There is absolutely no reason air traffic control (ATC) should allow a helicopter to cross on the approach end of an active runway. A simple fix? Have the helicopter pass midfield. This basic procedural change could have prevented the accident and should be a standard practice across the country.
However, this isn’t just about one crash—this is about a larger failure in airspace management that puts the flying public at risk.
➡️ I have personally witnessed military training operations in busy airspace, creating unnecessary danger for commercial and general aviation traffic. Commercial flights and private aircraft should not be used as training objects.
➡️ I have also seen general aviation training taking place in high-traffic airspace, causing confusion and leading to near collisions.
We need to completely rethink how we train pilots and manage airspace. This isn’t just about safety—it’s about preventing future tragedies.
I urge Congress to investigate this accident and push for meaningful airspace safety reforms that prioritize common sense over complacency.
We cannot afford to wait until the next tragedy to act. Let’s fix this now.
Bruh I swear I said the exact same thing to Brittany Daigrepont Bordelon last night.
Tragic it really is. But I agree and I als believe we should hire more ATC workers. A lot of em is working over with little help.
Well said Daryl Deshotel
I enjoyed speaking with the students of St. Anthony during Catholic Schools Week! They asked great questions, but the best one was, ‘How does your Catholic faith guide you in the legislature?’ It was an honor to be part of the discussion alongside outstanding public servants—Charles Riddle, Heath Paster, Connie Desselle, and Brenda Sampson.

An Unforgettable Experience at the Presidential Inauguration Events
Olivia and I had the incredible opportunity to attend the inaugural events and celebrations in D.C. It was a special and historic moment to be part of, and we truly enjoyed the experience.
In addition to celebrating, I also had the chance to meet with some of our federal delegation to discuss the future of Louisiana. We talked about how, by working together, we can build a stronger Louisiana. As always, I continue to advocate for much-needed improvements to our state’s infrastructure. I even had the opportunity to visit with Speaker Mike Johnson, which was a great discussion on the path forward for Louisiana and the country.
As always, I enjoyed spending time with Representative Julia Letlow and discussing the important work ahead for our state.
A huge thank you to Rock Bordelon and Don Jr. for the amazing hospitality—we truly appreciate it! Grateful to have been part of such an important time in our nation’s history.
Just returned from an incredibly productive trade mission to Cuba, where I had the opportunity to join LDAF, LSU, and Cuban officials in signing a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate on rice research and best practices. This partnership is a big step forward for Louisiana agriculture, opening new markets and strengthening trade ties with Cuba.
During our visit, we met with Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, and had the chance to tour the Tulipan Market, where Cubans purchase their meat, rice, and produce. Seeing firsthand how our agricultural products could impact communities abroad was eye-opening.
This mission was about more than trade — it was about forging partnerships that benefit Louisiana’s farmers and economy while also supporting global food security. I’m proud to have been part of this effort and look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on our state and beyond.
